Arsenal are reportedly targeting Roma’s Amadou Diawara as a possible replacement for Lucas Torreira.
Torreira has been linked with a move away from the Emirates after struggling to cement a place in Mikel Arteta’s side.
The 24-year-old even admitted he would respect any decision to sell him in comments to the press in Uruguay.
He told Sport 890: “Today I need to think about my future very well.
“I have a contract with the club and I have to respect it, obviously if I have to leave it will be for the best.
“We have to be calm and wait.”
Torreira has been linked with Milan and Torino as Arteta continues to overhaul his squad.
Arsenal signed him from Sampdoria just two seasons ago for £26million.
He featured regularly under Unai Emery but has been used mostly as a substitute under the current boss.
Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Arsenal will reinvest any funds they receive by selling the midfielder, with Diawara identified as a possible replacement.
The report says the Gunners have ‘tested the waters’ for the Guinea international, but the club’s priority will be to get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed to a new deal and sealing the signing of Willian on a free transfer from Chelsea.
