In case you hadn’t noticed, Adama Traore has been an absolute machine for Wolves this season.
The Spaniard has come of age and become one of the very best wingers in the Premier League, scoring four goals and adding nine assists in 37 matches this season.
The 24-year-old has also been key to Wolves’ impressive Europa League run, which continues on Tuesday as they take on Spanish side Sevilla in the quarter-finals, which you can listen to LIVE on talkSPORT now.
Traore is so quick and physical that he is incredibly difficult to tackle, and therefore very easy to foul.
And one image circulating on social media has shown the winger being lathered in oil by one of the club’s physios.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Wolves captain Conor Coady explained why Traore likes to get greased up.
“It’s something that comes from him and the physios and obviously makes it harder for players to grab hold of him,” he said.
“When I first started seeing it I thought: ‘God he is having himself a little bit here!’
“But there’s a reason behind it and it’s something he wants to do. He spoke to the physio about it to see how he can get better and stop getting fouled.
“As everyone knows, he gets fouled a lot because he’s so quick and so direct but if that works for him than that’s great for him and us.
“He’s got big arms, he can get away with it can’t he?”
That baby oil was put to exceptionally good use in the early stages of the quarter-final tie as he won Wolves a penalty.
His lung-busting run, which saw him pierce through the heart of the Sevilla defence, left centre-back Diego Carlos no choice but to trip him up inside the box.
However, Wolves didn’t make the most of this golden opportunity as Raul Jimenez’s tentative penalty was kept out by Sevilla glovesman Bono.
The winner of the tie will face Manchester United in the semi-finals next Monday. The Red Devils got the better of FC Copenhagen.
