Europa League Final LIVE commentary: Inter Milan take on Sevilla for European glory

Inter Milan face Sevilla in Cologne tonight in the final of the Europa League.

The European tournament is finally down to it’s last two, over a year on from the first qualifying round way back in June 2019.

Inter smashed Shakhtar Donetsk in the semi-finals with Romelu Lukaku netting a brace in their handsome 5-0 win.

Sevilla, meanwhile, edged out Manchester United 2-1 thanks to Luuk De Jong’s later winner.

The two will now meet at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne for a shot at glory and the chance to secure Champions League football for next term

Inter have not reach the Europa League final since they beat Lazio 3-0 in the 1998 final.

Sevilla, on the other hand, have won this tournament an incredible five times in the last 14 years.

Europa League Final: What has been said?

Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte: “It will be a tough game. We’re playing the team with the most experience and who have won the most titles over the last decade of this competition.

“We have to be attentive, but also play our own game with great enthusiasm and courage, like we have done so far. It’s a final and only the best teams get to the final. So we have to show on the pitch that we’re the best if we want this trophy.

“We have to play with the desire to win and bring the trophy back to Italy – and to bring a trophy back to Inter. Sevilla will have the same idea, so we have to show that we’re the better team.

“For me, it’s always important to be able to say to the lads, at the end of the game, that we don’t have any regrets. If we’re the better side, we’ll lift the trophy. If not, we’ll have given our all, and we’ll applaud our opponents.”

Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui: “Inter are a team that is equipped to compete in the Champions League, given the calibre of players they have which is extraordinary, and a very experienced manager who has coached many top teams.

“What I expect is a top-quality match which will demand the best of us, and, obviously, we will try to prepare well for it and to have the answers for such a daunting challenge.

“They have top players in every sense of the word, and they have their style of play ingrained in the players, thanks to their manager. That will require us to be at our limit in every respect to compete with them.

“They’ve had a great year; they missed out on the Scudetto by a point. In the Champions League they’ve been able to show what kind of team they are as well, and they’ve been very convincing in getting to the final.

“What we need to do is be ready.”
