Gabriel Magalhaes has reportedly completed a medical at Arsenal ahead of a £27m transfer from Lille.
The Gunners are thought to be acting quickly due to intense interest from the likes of Napoli and Manchester United.
It’s a transfer saga which has taken several twists already, and it’s certainly not over the line just yet.
The Times reports that while Arsenal are winning the race for the 22-year-old defender, United and Napoli could still swoop in with an increased offer.
This comes amid rumours United are considering hijacking Arsenal’s move for the Brazilian.
Gabriel has reportedly been offered a five-year deal by the Gunners, but is taking his time to ensure he makes the right decision about his future.
Meanwhile, Italian journalist Ciro Venerato claims that if Napoli miss out on Gabriel, they could move for Gunners centre-back Shkodran Mustafi.
Venerato told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli: “If Gabriel fades? At that point Napoli will turn to a plan B, in addition to Sokratis, there is also talk of Mustafi, also coming out of Arsenal.
“Another name, an old scouting obsession would be Todibo of Barcelona.”
