Jadon Sancho future: Borussia Dortmund want to keep hold of Manchester United target until NEXT SUMMER in hope of sparking bidding war

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly determined to keep hold of Manchester United target Jadon Sancho until next summer – when they hope a bidding war will start for his services.

The Sun claim that United have not given up hope of finalising a big-money move for the 20-year-old before the October 5 transfer deadline, having identified the forward as one of their main targets.

However, Dortmund say they have no intention of allowing Sancho to leave ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, while the player is unlikely to attempt to force a move following recent remarks about how much he loves playing for the club.

The Bundesliga giants believe they will be in a strong position to negotiate an even bigger fee than their current £108million asking price next summer, should Sancho continue in the same vein as 2019/20 and once the financial implications of COVID-19 begins to ease.

Speaking on Thursday, head of professional football, Sebastian Kehl, reiterated sporting director Michael Zorc’s stance that Sancho will be a BVB player next season.

“It was important to get clarity on the subject. We know about Jadon’s attractiveness, but also of his importance to us. He gives our team that little extra. We’re happy that he’s staying,” Kehl explained.

“We can all be happy. Jadon scored 17 goals and assisted 17 in the last Bundesliga season – and he can improve even further too.

“He enriches this team. We need players who make the difference.

“Unfortunately, we’re currently missing Marco Reus, and we lost Achraf Hakimi, but apart from him, we’ve kept the team together. That was an important goal this summer.”
