Leicester duo Hamza Choudhury and Demarai Gray could leave King Power Stadium before October transfer deadline

Hamza Choudhury and Demarai Gray could both leave Leicester before next month’s transfer deadline, talkSPORT understands.

Choudhury has fallen down the pecking order at the King Power, with Nampalys Mendy currently preferred in the holding midfield role as Wilfried Ndidi drops into defence.

Gray, meanwhile, has also struggled to break into the first-team and has been absent from the Foxes’ past two matchday squads altogether, with Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez preferred to him in the line-up.

Choudhury is keen on a permanent transfer away from Leicester, while Gray’s exit is likely with a number of clubs interested in his services.

The Foxes face Arsenal on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup third round and Brendan Rodgers believes his side will be better for the experience of losing in the Carabao Cup semi-finals last season.

“I think that was disappointing for us because I thought over the two games we were the better team but we didn’t qualify, so that was a competition that hurt us last year,” said Rodgers on the Leicester website.

“But you have to feel that pain in order to improve and progress, so it’s a game that we’ll give everything (in) to get into the next round.

“Because of the limited number of games that we’ve had and training time we’ve had, I’m going to have to make a number of changes.

“We’re going to rely on the squad this year and I need to get some players some game time and up to speed. The idea will be to go out and win the game and we’ll put a team out to do that.”
