Man United want to complete Jadon Sancho transfer before first Premier League fixture, alternatives to Borussia Dortmund ace include Gareth Bale

Manchester United want to sign Jadon Sancho in time for him to walk out at Old Trafford to play Crystal Palace on 19 September.

The club begin their Premier League campaign a week later as they were still playing Europa League football in August and, according to Norwegian publication Dagbladet, deal makers have one week to finish negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.

Personal terms have been agreed between club and player, but the Bundesliga side don’t want to let the winger go for anything less than £108m.

Alternative signings have already been drawn up and the calibre of player being targeted remains high. Kingsley Coman and Douglas Costa have been linked to United, while Inews believe Gareth Bale is being eyed as a short term solution.

This would solve an issue for Real, Bale and allow United to continue negotiating with Dortmund for Sancho.

Bale is open to a Premier League return and teammate Luka Modric feels he still has something to offer.

“It just depends on him, if he has enough hunger or desire to keep going,” he told The Times. I think he has but whether his situation finishes here or continues, he can still be an important player.”

However, the priority is Sancho and the England international wants to join them.

The fact there was a breakthrough this week over wages suggest those in power at Old Trafford can get the deal over the line next week.
