West Ham should consider selling Declan Rice if they’re able to bring in James Tarkowski from Burnley as his replacement, according to talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham.
Big-spending Chelsea, who have already spent more than £200m on new recruits, have been heavily linked with the midfielder – who was released by the Blues at the age of 14.

Explaining his stance on Monday’s Drivetime, Durham said: “The thing Declan Rice is a good player – I do like him.
“Maybe some people think he’s better than what he actually is, but I do like him.
“I do think he’s an England standard player and he is one of West Ham’s better players – you could argue that he’s their best player.
“But is he a match winner on his own? Can they do without him? And I think the answer to that is yes.
“And if they do get a lot of money in for him and they do spend it wisely on the players [David] Moyes thinks will make West Ham’s first team better than I think that it’s got to be a consideration.

“The story was last week is that they wanted [James] Tarkowski and they could get him for what £50m? That’s what Burnley were talking about.
“They could maybe get him for a little bit less than that. If you sell Declan Rice and you sell Tarkowski then you’ve got some money left over then I think that’s got to represent a positive deal for West Ham United.”
The Hammers have already had a £27million bid rejected for Tarkowski, but talkSPORT understands an improved £30m bid has been lodged for the England international.
West Ham’s owners recently outraged supporters by selling one of their most prized assets in Grady Diangana to newly-promoted West Brom.
Earlier in the day on the White & Jordan show, talkSPORT revealed that under-fire duo David Gold and David Sullivan have no intention of walking away from the club anytime soon amid growing fan discontent.

“Just as we came on air I got a call from one of the owners,” Jim White revealed.
“Obviously they do not like the fact they’ve been hung out to dry and being persecuted it seems from a minority of the West Ham fans.
“There was a protest before the game against Newcastle, game number one of the new season.
“I said to the person ‘are you going to walk away?’ And they said ‘not at the moment… everybody has got their breaking point, but not at the moment’.”
