Jude Bellingham made history on Tuesday night as he became the youngest English player EVER to feature in a Champions League match at just 17 years and 133 days old.
The teenager was named in Borussia Dortmund’s XI to face Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico – a match the Bundesliga side lost 3-1.
The teenager featured in a star-studded team including the likes of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland, but it turned out to be a disappointing night for Bellingham as he was hooked off at half-time of the Group F opener.
Bellingham burst onto the scene with Birmingham last season, where he became the club’s youngest ever player and goalscorer.
He went on to make 44 appearances for Blues and score four goals before a huge £25million transfer to Dortmund over the summer.
Earlier this season he became the youngest ever goalscorer in Dortmund’s 110-year history at 17 years and 77 days old.
However, it was the Italian hosts who put on a show as Ciro Immobile’s early strike setting them on their way to a brilliant victory.
Dortmund goalkeeper Marwin Hitz scored an unfortunate own goal before Haaland reduced the arrears with 20 minutes remaining, but Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro secured the win for Lazio with a superb late strike.
