Liverpool in the relegation zone, but Aston Villa and Chelsea are flying high – How every Premier League club has been affected by closed stadiums

It’s hard to watch football and not see fans in stadiums up and down the United Kingdom.

Fans are the 12th player. It’s a bit of a cliche but in reality we know they really do make a huge difference.

The purpose of the study was to establish how sides have been affected, for either the better or worse, with fans not allowed in Premier League grounds

The study also revealed there has only been a minimal 0.08 points per game drop for home sides and, interestingly, away sides are now scoring 0.34 more goals per game than they did prior to the loss of fans, while they have also seen a 0.91 per cent rise in the amount of possession they have per game.

In total, there has been 0.48 more goals in every Premier League match, but that is despite there being 1.24 less shots in each encounter – has no fans really made strikers more clinical?

It would appear so, although no one has told Alexandre Lacazette…
