We’ve all had to adapt to working from home, but few of us have done it quite so effectively as David Moyes.
Stuart Pearce has shed light on Moyes’ fine remote work over the past two weeks following the West Ham manager’s positive COVID-19 test.
Moyes has been self-isolating at home with assistant Alan Irvine overseeing things on the touchline.
First-team coach Pearce has also been seen running up and down stairs as he communicates with Moyes on the phone.
Despite also missing first-choice centre-back Issa Diop due to coronavirus, the Hammers have been on fire in the Premier League.
They’ve enjoyed thumping wins over Wolves and Leicester, winning 4-0 and 3-0 respectively, but Pearce insists Moyes’ role should not be underestimated.
“I think he had one of the games streamed online, our Carabao Cup game, the other ones he’s watched on telly,” Pearce told talkSPORT.
“I’m sat in the stand and I’ve got a direct line with him. So anything he sees, I’ve got a direct line down to the touchline.
“One of the pluses is that it’s taken the emotion out of it for him.
“I’ve watched games from the technical area and when you’re down at pitch level, you don’t see the same picture.
“He’s been really hands on, Alan Irvine’s been brilliant too.
“David doesn’t miss a trick, even if he’s not in the building. He’s on top of everything.”
Pearce also revealed that Moyes has returned to training in fine form after his quarantine period ended on Tuesday.
“He came back in on Tuesday and he seemed pretty good,” he added. “It’s not been easy, but he has watched every training session.
“He’s guided the training, he’s picked the team, and made the substitutions.”
