Erling Haaland became the fastest player in history to score 15 Champions League goals on Tuesday night as Borussia Dortmund eased past Club Brugge in a 3-0 victory.
Haaland has achieved the feat in just 12 games, seven fewer than the previous record jointly held by Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy and former Tottenham forward Roberto Soldado.
In fact, Haaland has so far only failed to score in two appearances in Europe’s premier competition.
Haaland added another strike after the break, with Jadon Sancho also scoring a sumptuous first-half free-kick, as Dortmund closed in on qualification to the knockout stages of the competition.
A win against Lazio in their penultimate match next Wednesday evening would see them claim top spot in Group F.
The Norway star was already the joint-fastest to get to five Champions League goals – taking three games, the same as Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
He was also the quickest to reach 10 goals (seven matches), reaching the mark four games quicker than any other player in the competition’s history.
Incredibly, Haaland has also now scored more goals (16) than the likes of Brazilian Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
So there’s little wonder why he was recently named the 2020 Golden boy.
