Thomas Muller is at it again…
The Bayern Munich midfielder loves making jokes and humorous references in his interviews.
Muller cracked the awful LewanGOALski joke after Bayern beat Barcelona 8-2 last season.
The assembled journalists were bemused at his play on words and he said it again to make sure they’d heard it properly but still went down like a lead balloon.
The 31-year-old is definitely the class clown at the German club and seems as though he’s up on his British banter too.
Muller was being interviewed after Bayern came through a tough game against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday, winning 3-1, and he made a reference all British fans will recognise.
He said: “How do the British people say it? You have to show it on a windy night in Stoke? Today it was not windy and Stuttgart is not Stoke but Stuttgart is a team that plays very well in the last few weeks.”
We completely understand what you mean, Thomas…
Fans will remember the famous phrase was coined by then Sky Sports pundit Andy Gray in the 2010/11 season.
It was made in reference to Lionel Messi and that he might struggle at the notoriously tough Britannia Stadium.
Though Stoke’s reputation is not quite as fearsome as it once was with the side now down in the Championship.
