Toni Kroos not a fan of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s mask celebration or other choreographed moves, Arsenal striker responds

Toni Kroos claimed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was ‘not a good role model’ for his celebrations involving masks.

Aubameyang has regularly sported superhero masks after scoring goals during his time at Borussia Dortmund and now Arsenal.

He has worn Spiderman, Deadpool, Batman and Black Panther headgear in recent years but Real Madrid midfielder Kroos was having none of it.

He is more of a fan of the old school.

“If there are rehearsed dances or choreography, I find it very silly,” Kroos said on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast he hosts, as per Sport Bild.

“Even worse is if there are any objects hidden in their socks.

Kroos called the celebrations ‘nonsense’

“Aubameyang once celebrated and took out a mask. That’s where it ends with me. I don’t think that’s a good role model, either. What nonsense.

“What I always found sweet was Gerd Muller. He just jumped up, pulled up his pants. That was real joy, nothing big.”

Aubameyang even responded on Twitter, adding he wants to speak to Kroos first:

“Hmm I want to answer but first @ToniKroos I just want to be sure it was really you.”

Kroos may just not be a fan of masks altogether if this video showing the Madrid squad arriving for a game in October is anything to go by.

It shows players entering Camp Nou ahead of the Clasico game and the midfielder is not wearing a COVID one, while his teammates do.

Aubameyang’s reasons for wearing the masks have deeper meaning than just gimmicks.

He wore the Black Panther mask after scoring for Arsenal against Rennes in the Europa League last year.

He said post-match: “I needed a mask which represents me and that’s the Black Panther. In Gabon, we call the national team the Panthers.”

Aubameyang also paid tribute to the late actor, Chadwick Boseman, who played the Black Panther with the ‘Wakanda Forever’ salute following his goal against Liverpool in the Community Shield.
