Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims FIFA and EA Sports don’t have permission to use his name and likeness and are ‘using me to make money’

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has accused FIFA and EA Sports of ripping him off by using his name and likeness allegedly without permission.

The 39-year-old has been a prominent star in the FIFA video game series for decades, with his likeness first appearing back in FIFA 04.

But, 17 years later, it appears he has only just realised – perhaps after buying a new PS5 console for every one of his AC Milan teammates…

The striker, who has an incredible 11 goals in ten games this season, claims EA Sports are ‘using his name and face without permission’ and says they are ‘using’ him to make money.

And he took to Twitter to express his outrage, calling for an investigation into how he is in the game apparently without his knowledge.

Ibrahimovic tweeted: “Who gave FIFA EA Sport permission to use my name and face? @FIFPro?

Tottenham star Gareth Bale also responded to the debate, adding: “Interesting… what is @FIFPro? #TimeToInvestigate.”

FIFPro is the global players union… although it seems some of the top stars in the game don’t really know about them, or what they do.

Zlatan’s claims are made even more puzzling by his club’s exclusive partnership with EA Sports, which started this year.

The Italian giants agreed a deal with the makers of FIFA, beginning with FIFA 21 which came out in October, which has given the game exclusive access to their players, kits, training grounds and the San Siro Stadium.

Apparently the veteran striker wasn’t consulted…

However, one cheeky fan told Zlatan to ‘calm down’ and not to worry, claiming nobody wants him in this year’s game due to his poor stats!

EA often come in for criticism over their inaccurate player stats when the new game is realised every year, and it appears they’ve got this one wrong, with Zlatan still banging in the goals in Serie A.

In fact, his agent Mino Raiola haw claimed Ibrahimovic can play at the highest level until he’s 50 years old.
