Arsenal fan appeared to sneak in among Tottenham fans for north London derby only to see Gunners beaten 2-0

Football fans were back with 2,000 supporters at Sunday’s north London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but one Arsenal fan appeared to sneak in among the home crowd.

It may have been a decision he lived to regret as the Gunners lost 2-0, a win for Spurs that sent them back to the top of the table.

The match is one of the first Premier League games since March with fans allowed back amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Areas in tier 2 are allowed up to 2,000 home supporters at games with Spurs welcoming back a small number back for their crucial derby match on Sunday.

Although it is supposed to be home supporters only, one Arsenal fan appears to have got himself a ticket for the game.

John Williamson tweeted a picture from inside the ground and said: “Not quite 2,000 home fans.”

He also appears to have attended Arsenal’s Europa League clash with Rapid Vienna on Thursday and wrote an article for FourFourTwo about his experience.

Jose Mourinho said earlier in the week that he hoped the fans attending the north London derby would make plenty of noise and get behind the team.

When asked if returning fans would help them stay top of the Premier League, he said: “It depends on the fans, their profile, the way people will face the game.

“Do they want to go to the most beautiful stadium in England and enjoy that? Or do they want to go to play the game?

“If they want to enjoy the stadium and their passion for football, I don’t think it makes a big difference.

“If they want to go there and play, wear a Tottenham shirt and play the game, then that can give us a little more motivation and pleasure for us, yes.”

The Spurs fans were in good voice during the game and helped their team on to a 2-0 victory over their bitter rivals.

Harry Kane and Heung-min Son combined for the 10th and 11th time this season to give them the three points.

Son scored a wondergoal early on from 25 yards before Kane lashed home in the 45th minute as Tottenham earned bragging rights.
