Cavani and Greenwood start, Rashford injured, Van de Beek and Pogba benched again… How Manchester United could line-up against West Ham

Manchester United lock horns with West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday in what will be the first Premier League game with fans since March.

London is in tier 2 meaning 2,000 supporters can attend the match and the Hammers head into this in good form.

At the London Stadium, they’ve been a real force, picking up ten points in five games – the second best home record in the league.

It will make for an interesting clash as Manchester United have one of the best away records, winning all four of their games so far.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have beaten Brighton, Newcastle, Everton and Southampton and will be looking to add West Ham to that list.

The Red Devils’ injury list is not as lengthy as some other teams in the league with many looking like they could be in contention for Saturday.

Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial were all passed fit this week and are available.

There are question marks over the fitness of Marcus Rashford, though, due to a shoulder injury picked up in the Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Luke Shaw is working his way back to full fitness following a hamstring injury but is not ready yet.

Edinson Cavani has made a compelling case to start as the central striker having come off the bench against Southampton to score twice.

Anthony Martial has only just returned from injury so will likely be eased back in but has struggled for goals this seasons as it is.

If fit, Rashford will play behind Cavani as part of an attacking trio alongside Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood but he may be on the bench with Solskjaer likely to play it safe with so many games to play.

If that were to happen then Martial would likely line up on the left, while Greenwood will play on the right.

Solskjaer has preferred to play two deep-lying midfielders sitting in front of the defence and has rotated the likes of Fred, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek.

McTominay and Fred has been the manager’s favourite duo and could get the nod against West Ham, despite the latter’s sending off in midweek against PSG.

That means Pogba and summer signing Van de Beek will again have to settle for a place on the bench.

The defence essentially picks itself with Solskjaer’s best current back four of Alex Telles, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
