Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he will NEVER talk to Paul Pogba’s agent again following Manchester United’s crushing defeat to RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
The Red Devils crashed out of the competition as they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat in a match they only needed a point from to advance to the last-16.
The Man United boss admitted his players weren’t good enough but the build-up to what was the club’s biggest match of the season was overshadowed by comments made by super-agent Mino Raiola.
Raiola, who represents Pogba, said the midfielder’s time at Old Trafford was ‘over’ on the eve of the contest in Germany.
It’s thrown up even more speculation about whether Pogba will leave during the upcoming transfer window.
And while Solskjaer refused to get drawn into transfer speculation, he issued a defiant message to Raiola.
Solskjaer told BT Sport: “You’ve got to ask Paul if he’s happy or unhappy, I’m not going to speak for him.
“Paul’s focused on doing his best for the team, he’s working hard in training, he just needs to focus on his performances.
“Now is not the time to discuss transfer targets or the ins and outs at the club.”
He then later said to the media: “The squad is fine. They are a team and they stick together.
“As soon as Paul’s agent realises it is a team sport the better. I don’t want to spend energy on that. I am not going to talk about Paul’s agent any more.”
Despite being disappointed to see Man United go out of the competition, Solskjaer admits his players can have no complaints at being relegated to the Europa League.
He added: “You can’t say we were good enough, we weren’t.
“We started really well in this group and the big defeat was in Istanbul. That’s the one you look back at and think that’s where we lost the points we should have had.
“You cannot give a team a 3-0 lead and expect to come back.
“We were unlucky towards the end. I thought the effort and character was there.
“We knew we had to defend crosses, we knew we had to defend balls in the box and we couldn’t clear them. As a footballer you can’t feel sorry for yourself.”
