Arsenal and Liverpool are considering a January swoop for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, talkSPORT understands.
The Mali international, 24, has enjoyed an impressive season with the Seagulls this term and put in a solid display last time out as his side held Premier League champions Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium.
talkSPORT’s transfer insider Alex Crook has revealed that his assured performances for Graham Potter’s side has caught the eye of Arsenal and Liverpool, who are now contemplating a bid at the turn of the year.
“Bissouma is a player Arteta is a big fan of,” Crook told the Jim White show. “I know Arsenal are by no means the only big six club keeping tabs on him.
“Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also monitoring his situation as he looks for a replacement for the out of contract Gini Wijnaldum.
“Bissouma himself is contracted until 2023 so next summer would usually be the time when they would start negotiating a potential new deal.”
Crook also provided an update on Christian Eriksen’s situation at Inter after reports last month suggested that the Gunners could make a controversial swoop to sign the former Tottenham playmaker in January.
“We know it has’t worked out particularly well for Eriksen since he joined Inter Milan,” Crook continued. “He only has three league starts this season.
“I know Mike Arteta is hoping for a busy January and Eriksen, I understand, is on his list of potential targets.
“Arsenal are crying out for some creativity after making their worst ever start to a Premier League season.
“A stumbling block could be about how Eriksen himself could feel about crossing that north London divide.”
Finally, Crook revealed that Olivier Giroud, who netted FOUR goals for Chelsea as they hammered Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday night, is a target for West Ham and Tottenham.
“I know there’s interest from West Ham United,” Crook said. “David Moyes is a huge admirer of Giroud and clubs abroad as well.
“If you’re Frank Lampard now, how can you let Giroud go now given his goals return?
“I suppose where West Ham would have the edge over someone like Tottenham for example, who have also shown an interest in the past, is that they wouldn’t be viewed as direct rivals.”
