Kepa Arrizabalaga makes another howler as Chelsea’s £71m goalkeeper lets Luton back into FA Cup fourth round tie

Kepa Arrizabalaga rarely plays these days for Chelsea but when he does he’s made an unfortunate habit of making the headlines for the wrong reasons.

The Spaniard lost his place in the starting line-up following Frank Lampard’s decision to sign Edouard Mendy in the summer.

He’s had to settle for cup appearances and the odd Premier League showing when Mendy was not available.

Mistakes seem to follow him, though, and the £71million goalkeeper is making a name for himself for all the wrong reasons.

Kepa’s reputation preceded him in the third round of the FA Cup as the Morecambe bench were encouraging their players to shoot from 40 yards to test him out.

Tammy Abraham scored two early goals for the Blues

After all, he dropped an absolute clanger against Southampton back in October that cost his side two points in the Premier League.

Morecambe failed to test Kepa in that game but in the fourth round against Luton he was at it again.

Chelsea dominated the opening exchanges and Tammy Abraham netted twice early on to put the Blues in control.

But another mistake from the Spaniard conceded a very soft goal that unexpectedly allowed Luton back into the game.

In fact, it was their first shot in the game as Jordan Clark’s effort slipped past Kepa with ease.

His shot save percentage is the worst out of any Premier League goalkeeper that has played more than 20 games since the start of last season.

Kepa has saved just 58.8 per cent of the shots he’s faced over that period.
