Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains a doubt for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Manchester United on Saturday.
The forward has missed the Gunners’ last two games due to family issues and recently revealed that he needed to be with his mother due to health concerns.
Thankfully, she is better now and he was due to travel back to north London last night.
He wrote: “Hey guys, thank you so much for all the messages and calls over the last few days.
“My mother is going through some health issues and I had to be there for here.
“She’s already much better now and I will be back home tonight.
“I’m more than grateful to the doctors and nurses helping her get through this.
“And of course, thanks to my Arsenal fam for the love yesterday! I’m more determined than ever to keep our momentum going!
“Thank you all again – I really am beyond blessed to receive this level of support from you all and I can’t wait to be back.”
Manager Mikel Arteta was quizzed on whether Aubameyang would be available for the key clash with Man United this weekend – with commentary of the match live on talkSPORT.
“I don’t know [if he will be available],” Arteta told a news conference on Thursday. “I spoke with him yesterday. Things are looking better at the moment, but we are going to have to wait and see.
“He is our captain and one of the most important players. We are doing everything we can to have him as a quick as possible — but understanding that he has been through difficult days, that he had to support his family and we were here to support him as well with the time that he needed to get that support.”
ESPN claim there could be quarantine issues and he would also need a negative coronavirus test before he is able to play.
The club are also said to be waiting to see if he is in the right mental state to play.
