Norwich boss Daniel Farke rules out January exit for Arsenal transfer target Emi Buendia – ‘He will continue to be our player’

Norwich boss Daniel Farke has ruled out a January exit for Arsenal target Emi Buendia.

The Canaries midfielder has been linked with a move to the Gunners in recent months having scored seven goals and registered six assists this season.

Arsenal’s lack of creativity from midfield has been a problem for Mikel Arteta this term, something Buendia could solve.

However, Farke insists his star man is going nowhere as Norwich look to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

He said: “Emi is a key player for us, an important member of the group, and he is totally committed to us.

“He is our player and will continue to be our player – he is on a long-term contract with the club so we keep him.

“Everyone knows his qualities – and I don’t expect interest just because he scored a wonder goal [in a 1-0 win against Barnsley].

“He has scored a number like this for us and people know what he can do.

“It was an excellent finish and that is what Emi can do. He instinctively knows when to make a run and then has the quality to finish like that.”

The emergence of Emile Smith Rowe could soften the apparent Buendia blow.

The 20-year-old playmaker registered his second assist in three games in Arsenal’s 4-0 win over West Brom on Saturday.

Smith Rowe’s performance at the Hawthorns drew praise from Gunners outcast Mesut Ozil.

He tweeted: “Nice game my boys! Great spirit – 3 wins in a row.

“Team looks good with a No10 like Emile Smith Rowe – the difference maker.”
