Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports.
Atletico tried to bring the France striker to Spain before he joined the Gunners for £46.5million from Lyon in 2017.
Now, Spanish outlet AS claim Atletico are preparing to renew their interest in Lacazette amid a ‘strained’ relationship with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
The report adds Real Madrid have also joined the race to sign the 29-year-old, who has 18 months left on his current deal.
It is understood Lacazette is not part of Arteta’s long-term plans, despite his goalscoring form this season.
He is Arsenal’s top scorer with nine goals in 21 appearances and has netted five times in his last six matches.
Earlier this month, Lacazette praised Arteta for the Gunners’ upturn in form with the club on a five-match unbeaten run.
“The coach puts me as a No.9, but more with a role to play for my team-mates and challenge a lot,” he told RMC:
“It is not really a 10’s position, nor an old-fashioned No.9 that has to stay ahead and score goals.
“He knows my qualities and knows that I like to play short and help my team-mates with the development of play.
“Now we’re four behind and three midfielders. It’s much easier, because before we lacked attacking players. This tactical change is also good for us.”
