Tuchel, who replaced Frank Lampard at the helm after the Stamford Bridge icon was dismissed earlier this week, has been set the task of getting Chelsea’s summer recruits firing in what has been a difficult season so far.

Kai Havertz and Timo Werner have struggled to say the least and fellow German Tuchel has been brought in to spark the indisputably talented front men into gear.

And Tuchel wasted no time in getting to grips with his new job shortly after his appointment was confirmed by the west London club.

Pictures and a short clip of his first training session at Chelsea’s Cobham complex have been posted by the club.

The 47-year-old has signed an initial 18-month contract to become the 15th manager of owner Roman Abramovich’s tenure and his immediate task will be to reverse the fortunes of a team who have lost five of their last eight Premier League games and lie in 10th place in the table.

“I would like to thank Chelsea for their confidence in me and my staff,” Tuchel, who took his first training session on Tuesday night, told Chelsea’s official club website.

“We all have the greatest respect for Frank Lampard’s work and the legacy he created at Chelsea.

“At the same time I cannot wait to meet my new team and compete in the most exciting league in football.

“I am grateful to now be part of the Chelsea family – it feels amazing.”

Tuchel led PSG to the 2020 Champions League final, but was sacked by the French giants in December

Chelsea owner Abramovich is understood to believe Tuchel’s experience in managing major egos and talents like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe will allow him to hit the ground running with the Blues.
