Khabib Nurmagomedov is training with Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk in Dubai following his retirement from the UFC.
In fact, the Russian fighting icon has even been offered a professional football contract as he seeks new opportunities.
Khabib placed his gloves on the octagon canvas immediately after defeating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 to signify the end of his long MMA journey and retired with a perfect 29-0 record.
However, despite various offers from UFC boss Dana White and jibes from Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, ‘The Eagle’ has teased a move into football.
After footage emerged of the 32-year-old having a kick about with his pals in the UAE, Khabib has joked about even joining a professional team.
In fact, FC Kamaz of the Russian Professional Football League (the third tier of Russian football) have offered the former lightweight champion a contract.
“Welcome, Khabib,” they stated per RT. “We offer you to make your football debut as part of our team.
“PFL is the football UFC… we play every match only to win [and are] an ambitious team with the task of entering the FNL.
“We invite you to the training camp in Novorossiysk, from February 12 to March 5, 2021.”
After helping his cousin pick up his first ever win in the UFC on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi this month, Khabib nipped across to Dubai and even bumped into Liverpool defender Vigril van Dijk, who is recovering from a serious knee injury.
The Netherlands captain has not featured for the Reds since suffering the injury against Everton in 2020 and went under the knife for surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament.
Had the 29-year-old required surgery on his posterior cruciate ligament in addition to his ACL, it could have extended his injury return to beyond 12 months.
Posting a picture of the two of them, Khabib wrote: “It was nice to meet you Virgil van Dijk.
“I wish you well and recover soon, I know what it is to be injured, be patient.”
Van Dijk shared the post on his own social media channels too.
