Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba are ‘crucial’ to Manchester United’s hopes of winning the Premier League.
That is the view of former Red Devils striker Dimitar Berbatov, who has claimed the duo are as important as each other with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side hoping to reclaim the top-flight title for the first time in eight years.
Fernandes has totted up 11 goals and seven assists in United’s 18 matches this season, while he scooped his FOURTH Player of the Month award earlier this week – a record of any player in a calendar year.
His good form has coincided with United’s surge up the Premier League table, with the Red Devils one point behind Leicester ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage – which is LIVE on talkSPORT.
“I was one of those people who said that one player coming into a new team cannot change the whole team,’ the Bulgarian told beIN SPORTS.
“But I think I was wrong with this one because since his arrival he’s in a way lifted the side with his individual performance and overall with the team performance around him.
“He makes assists, he scores goals and he’s doing what he can do just play football.”
Fernandes’ midfield partner Pogba has enjoyed a resurgence in recent weeks and has once again reminded Solskjaer of his undisputed quality.
And Berbatov singled out the Frenchman as the United player who is crucial to any title charge.
“If he stays healthy and injury-free, for me this is the guy that can also control the game for the team,” added Berba.
“They can take centre stage with Pogba, you know, give the lead role to one another from time to time because both of them know the game, intercept the game and know how to read the game.
“So for me these two players are crucial and Bruno deserves all the credit and applause since he’s arrived at Manchester United because he’s been unbelievable.”
