David Luiz posted an angry reaction to his red card in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat at Wolves on Tuesday night.
The defender took to social media and found himself backed up by his old Chelsea teammate John Terry.
The match began promisingly for Arsenal as Nicolas Pepe opened the scoring after 32 minutes.
However, Ruben Neves levelled in first-half stoppage time from the penalty spot after Luiz was sent off for accidentally tripping Willian Jose when he was through on goal.
Wolves turned the game around two minutes after the break when Joao Moutinho’s stunning 30-yard drive flew in off a post.
Things then went from bad to worse for the Gunners as Bernd Leno was also dismissed with 18 minutes left when he handled outside the area with Adama Traore threatening to break through.
The game ended 2-1 as Arsenal suffered their first league defeat since December 19.
Luiz reacted on social media with an Instagram story.
He simply left the word ‘unbelievable’ accompanied by four exclamation marks and seven angry emojis.
Terry weighed in on the debate, writing on social media: “Never a red card! Double jeopardy.”
In reply to a comment disagreeing with him, he added: “Anyone who has ever played the game can see David never attempts to play the ball!!!
“He actually pulls out of the challenge, which means penalty but no red card.
“You obviously don’t play and, also, check the rules yourself.”
