Erling Haaland has reportedly ‘run out of patience’ with Borussia Dortmund amid rumours of a summer exit.
The 20-year-old is set to be high in demand thanks to his 34 goals in 36 Bundesliga matches for Borussia Dortmund.
However, the Bundesliga side are way off the pace in the league and, after a 2-2 draw with relegation-threatened Cologne in which Haaland scored twice, sit four points behind fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt.
He let his frustration with his side’s failings show when he stormed down the tunnel in anger at full-time against Cologne as failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League is a real concern and could lead to the striker’s exit.
Haaland will have his pick of top European clubs when he decides his next move, which is likely to be motivated by silverware having developed into one of the stop strikers during his time in Germany.
And Real are believed to be confident of beating Chelsea, Manchester United and Man City to his signature.
Spanish outlet AS say the Norway international initially agreed to stay at Dortmund until 2022, however, the club’s poor form and the financial effect of the coronavirus pandemic could force them into selling this summer.
The report adds Haaland has always ‘liked’ the idea of playing at Real Madrid, who have a good relationship with his agent, Mino Raiola.
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke is also understood to have a good relationship with Real president Florentino Perez.
Haaland, who became the quickest player to reach 20 Champions League goals in just 14 appearances, will arguably get his toughest test in Europe when he comes up against Man City in the quarter-finals next month.
In Ruben Dias and John Stones, City have a defence that has conceded just 21 Premier League goals this season and are on course to win the title.
City boss Pep Guardiola is said to be a fan, but recently refused to confirm whether Haaland is on City’s transfer radar.
The Spaniard said: “He is a player for Borussia Dortmund.
“I don’t like when people talk about our players, so he’s a player for Borussia Dortmund. You understand I cannot answer this question.”
