Diogo Jota scored on his return to Wolves but Liverpool’s 1-0 victory was marred by a sickening head injury to Rui Patricio.
Jota broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time when he finished a move involving Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, firing past Patricio at the near post.

It was the Portugal international’s sixth goal of the Premier League campaign and was ultimately enough to settle the tie for the Reds, who won their first game in three matches.
With five minutes to play, a sickening collision between Patricio and Conor Coady caused a lengthy stoppage.
The pair collided as they tried to stop Salah with five minutes remaining.
It was the second head injury concern for Wolves this season after Raul Jimenez fractured his skull at Arsenal in November.
After a long delay, John Ruddy replaced Patricio as a concussion substitute.
The result means Liverpool are five points off fourth-placed Chelsea, while Wolves remain in 13th following the defeat.
Nuno Espirito Santo thankfully confirmed that Patricio was ‘okay’ after the match.
“We’ve just had an update now. He’s okay, he’s conscious, totally conscious,” Nuno told Sky. “He remembers what happened, he’s aware, so he’s okay.
“It was a collision with Coady I think, the knee of Coady on the head.
“But it’s okay, he’s okay. We speak already, so he’s okay.
“Any situation when it’s a concussion in the head gets all of us worried.
“But he’s okay. He’s going to recover.”
