Ben the Leeds fan had a message for Manchester United on talkSPORT: “You’ll never sign, Erling Haaland!”
United are being talked about as potential suitors for the Borussia Dortmund sensation this summer.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer coached the 20-year-old Norwegian in his youth days at Molde and recently revealed he is in regular contact with his fellow countryman.
United, however, can forget about beating the likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to his signature.
That’s the view of Leeds fan Ben, anyway.
In entertaining call on talkSPORT Breakfast, Ben insisted United won’t stand a chance – claiming Haaland’s family ‘hate’ the club.
Haaland’s dad, Alfe Inge, played for Leeds and was the victim of a horror challenge from Roy Keane in 2001.
Haaland’s father had laughed at the Manchester United legend when he ruptured his ACL at Elland Road four years earlier.
Keane duly got his revenge in a Manchester derby as he was shown a straight red card for appearing to purposely target Alf-Inge’s right knee.
While the tackle did not end Alf-Inge’s career, despite the claim from Leeds fan Ben, it is still nauseating to watch.
And because of that incident, Ben insists there is zero chance Haaland junior, who has actually born in Leeds, will sign for United.
He told Thursday’s talkSPORT Breakfast: “There is no way he’d go to Manchester United. The Haaland family hate Manchester United!
“If you remember the whole Roy Keane thing with his dad business, why would he go there when he can go to any club in the world?”
talkSPORT host Alan Brazil jovially suggested ‘money talks’ as Ben replied: “Man City have got more money than United, Real Madrid will pay him more than United.
“Keane ended his father’s career – it’s an absolute nonsense. He will never go there when he can go to City or Madrid or Bayern or anywhere else.”
Haaland became the fastest player to reach 20 Champions League goals as Borussia Dortmund progressed to the quarter-finals at Sevilla’s expense on Wednesday.
He has a £55million buyout clause, which comes into effect in 2022 – and Dortmund could look to cash in this summer for upwards of £100m.
Asked by Ally McCoist where he thinks Haaland will go, Ben said: “I don’t think he’ll go anywhere this summer.
“Next year he’ll go to City and they’ll stick £100million in him and his father and his agent’s pockets.
“Why give £100m profit to Dortmund? They’ve already factored in the Dortmund profit with the buyout clause.
“The rest of that money, however much it is, goes to Alf and the agent. Why would he go to Manchester United? I don’t understand.”
