Whether you’re a Manchester City supporter or not, everyone can appreciate just how brilliant Sergio Aguero is.
It’s been announced that the Argentine striker will be leaving City when his contract expires in the summer.
He personally has had a far from ideal final season at the club – scoring just one Premier League goal in what’s been an injury-ravaged campaign.
But the previous nine years have been nothing short of outstanding as he’s helped City establish themselves as a footballing powerhouse.
There have been countless moments of Aguero excellence but his highlight was surely at the climax of the 2011/12 season when his stoppage-time goal saw City claim a first league title in 44 years, snatching it from Manchester United’s grasp in the process.
Aguero has five League Cups, an FA Cup and four (soon-to-be five) Premier League winners’ medals to his name.
He also has a number of individual achievements to boast. Aguero has won more Premier League Player of the Month awards than any player in the competition’s history, winning it a staggering seven times.
But his ruthless goalscoring is what he’ll be best remembered for. Aguero is City’s record goalscorer, breaking the record that stood for 78 years back in November 2017 with his 178th strike.
The 32-year-old currently has 257 goals for City to his name, 181 in the Premier League which means he’s fourth in the all-time Premier League scoring charts.
He’s the top scoring foreign player in the Premier League history and has more hat-tricks than any other player in the competition.
In fact, he has more Premier League hat-tricks than Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, Dennis Bergkamp, Daniel Sturridge, Jurgen Klinsmann, Gianluca Vialli, Louis Saha, Gareth Bale, Roberto Firmino, Samuel Eto’o, Stan Collymore and Olivier Giroud combined.
Unsurprisingly, many have taken to Twitter to show their appreciation for Aguero, which you can see below.
