Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been backed to win silverware with Manchester United.
The Red Devils boss is yet to lift a trophy since replacing Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford hot seat in December 2018.
Reports claim Solskjaer is in line to receive a new three-year £30million contract as United chiefs believe he can guide the club to a first Premier League title since 2013.
And former Red Devils midfielder Jesper Blomqvist insists the Norwegian CAN topple Man City and Liverpool to a top-flight title.
He told talkSPORT: “We’re not there yet because we’re not anywhere near Manchester City or Liverpool.
“They have quite a bit [to go] still, but if we keep progressing, keep in in the same pace as we have now, we’ll be there definitely.”
The Europa League is United’s only realistic chance of ending their four-year trophy drought this season after they crashed out of the FA Cup to Leicester last weekend.
And Blomqvist believes United are getting closer and closer to winning a trophy under Solskjaer.
He added: “I definitely do think so. It was a bit frustrating with the FA Cup against Leicester.
“But they’re getting closer and closer. For me, the most important thing is that you can see the progress on the pitch if you compare it with a couple months back.
“Winning silverware is of course the final target, but as long as you can see the progress on the pitch, you will be happy.”
Blomqvist, who played alongside Solskjaer at United for three years from 1998, says his former teammate has improved the mentality of the team.
He explained: “I’m really pleased for him and I think he’s really done a fantastic job.
“It wasn’t an easy task for him when he came in. He’s done brilliantly.
“It’s still a little bit up and down, but the things he’s changed… the mentality is getting better every day, every week, every month.
“So I’m happy for him and I’m happy for the club.”
