Martin Odegaard is reportedly keen to stay at Arsenal beyond the end of the season.
The midfielder has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s side since joining on loan from Real Madrid in January.
Odegaard has found the net against Olympiakos and Tottenham and played a huge role in all three of Arsenal’s goals as they came back from 3-0 down to draw with West Ham.
Football.London claim Odegaard has told those close to him that he would like to extend his spell at Arsenal.
There is no option to buy for the Gunners which means the 22-year-old is set to return to Real Madrid this summer.
The report adds Odegaard will not try to force through another move to the Emirates, with the ball firmly in Arsenal’s court to make a move.
The Norway international has made just eight LaLiga appearances since joining Los Blancos as a 16-year-old in 2015.
He has had loan spells with Heerenveen, Vitesse and Real Sociedad and now finds himself at Arsenal having failed to impress Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane in the first half of the 2020/21 season.
Despite his limited opportunities in Madrid, Odegaard recently admitted it is still his ‘dream’ to become a regular starter at the Bernabeu.
He told Danish outlet TV2: “Yes, as I have said many times when you there, the goal is always to play there. It is of course a big dream.
“But at the same time I am in a nice club and am very happy where I am now. So I am very happy with the club situation as it is now.”
There have been several calls from Arsenal fans, including Piers Morgan, to sign Odegaard permanently.
He has two years left on his Real Madrid contract, which includes a €350million buyout clause.
