Real Madrid fan and friend of Cristiano Ronaldo, Khabib Nurmagomedov displays football knowledge by naming every Champions League winner since 2005 starting with Liverpool

Khabib Nurmagomedov showed off his incredible love for football once again by listing every Champions League winner since 2005.

The former UFC lightweight champion, who retired in October 2020, was discussing the beautiful game with American Kickboxing Academy teammate Manel Kape, who got more than he bargained for when he asked a simple question about footy.

With Coach Javier Mendez watching on, the Russian challenged Kape to name every single team who had won the Champions League since Liverpool in Istanbul.

As the former RIZIN champion from Angola briefly stumbled, Khabib proceeded to list every single winner of the prestigious competition since Steven Gerrard inspired the Reds to that impressive comeback win in Turkey.

Kape insisted his football prowess is reserved purely for the football pitch, but ‘The Eagle’ maintained players must have a sound knowledge of the beautiful game as well.

“If you don’t know nothing about football, you don’t know how to play,” he said.

“You have to understand the game. Please, Manel please. Coach listen, if you know nothing about the sport, how you know how to play the sport? It’s impossible.”

Khabib then went even further back, to 1995, and then reeled off the names of every Ballon d’Or winner from George Weah to the recent domination of Lionel Messi and his good friend, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Shortly after announcing his retirement from MMA after UFC 254, the 29-0 fighter joked he was open to offers to play as a free agent.

In fact, the Real Madrid fan has often spoken about his love of football and how he would have loved to have been a footballer had his career gone down a different path.

“That we have to hurt our rivals to show our superiority, this is the only thing that bothers me in this sport,” he told Esquire Middle East. “In this regard, I really love football, because you can show by beauty how good an athlete you are.”

Kape, meanwhile, will be hoping for an easier ride on Saturday – when he fights on the Leon Edwards vs Belal Muhammad card.
