Goals from Carlos Vinicius and Harry Kane either side of half-time gave under-fire manager Jose Mourinho a much-needed victory.
Tottenham crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday as Dinamo Zagreb overturned a two-goal deficit to win 3-0 on the night.
The result led to reports claiming Mourinho will be sacked if Tottenham do not finish in the top four.

The Brazilian striker tapped into an empty net to score his first Premier League goal of the season.
Aston Villa mustered up half-chances through John McGinn and Anwar El Ghazi as the hosts managed just one shot on target.
Tottenham were given a golden chance to double their lead when Matty Cash clumsily fouled Kane in the box.
And the England captain stepped up to double Tottenham’s lead in the 68th minute.
Incredibly, it is now 30 goal involvements (17 goals, 13 assists) in 27 Premier League appearances for Kane this season.
Tottenham are just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, while Aston Villa remain in 10th place.
