Tottenham star Harry Kane is ‘world’s best striker’ and ‘better than Erling Haaland’ as two forwards are linked with mega-money transfer to Manchester United

Tottenham superstar Harry Kane is the world’s best striker and ‘better than Erling Haaland’, Paul Merson has claimed amid reports linking both forwards with a transfer to Manchester United.

Kane netted for Spurs as they bounced back from their week from hell with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday night.

Jose Mourinho’s men were defeated by fierce rivals Arsenal last weekend before they were humbled by Dinamo Zagreb to crash out of the Europa League at the last-16 stage.

The results led to calls for Kane to quit the north London club in order to enhance his own personal ambition to win trophies.

Erling Haaland, meanwhile, was visibly angry after Borussia Dortmund drew with FC Koln on Saturday and stormed down the tunnel at full-time.

Both strikers have been linked with a switch to Manchester United and Merson has insisted the former is the world’s best.

Merson told Sky Sports: “He’s got an all-round game and I personally think he’s the best centre-forward in the world, he’s the only player I know who has got the whole package.

“People will go ‘oh (Erling) Haaland, he’s 20, he scores goals, that’s what he brings to the party’. Kane brings everything to the party.

“He’s got an array of passing, he can put people in, he can join the play. I can’t talk highly enough of the lad, I really can’t, he’s a special, special player.

“I’m not sure about it (breaking Shearer’s record), at 30, 31 he’s still got to get 25 a season.

“He can play so much deeper and he’s a team player. He’s not someone like an (Sergio) Aguero who’s just going to sit in the box.”

Haaland has been linked with a big-money summer move to every top club in Europe after scoring a staggering 34 goals in 36 Bundesliga matches since joining in 2020.
