Youri Tielemans channelled his inner-James Maddison as his ‘terrific’ assist helped Leicester claim a 2-1 win at Brighton.
The Belgian drifted inside before firing into Kelechi Iheanacho who showed excellent composure to chip in Leicester’s equaliser on 62 minutes.
The Foxes turned the match on its head three minutes before the end of normal time when Daniel Amartey took advantage of Robert Sanchez’s mistake. The Ghanaian was made up for his early error which led to Adam Lallana giving Brighton the lead.
Former England midfielder Lallana also hit a post for Graham Potter’s hosts, while Neal Maupay had a goal disallowed.
Victory at the Amex Stadium prevented Brendan Rodgers’ men going three successive top-flight games without victory for the first time this season following defeat to Arsenal and a midweek draw with Burnley.
Brighton, meanwhile, remain just three points above the relegation zone after their winless run stretched to five league games.
With the likes of Maddison and Harvey Barnes out injured, the onus is on Leicester’s other midfielders as they continue their push to finish in the top four.
And talkSPORT’s David Connolly believes Tielemans did precisely that, hailing the 23-year-old for his no look assist for Iheanacho.
“When Tielemans received just off the front, he drifted onto his right foot and that’s a Maddison-esque pass,” Connolly said on commentary for talkSPORT 2.
“When you don’t have a Maddison or a Barnes, you need someone else to take up the slack and provide and assist and Tielemans did it there, terrific pass!”
