Reports of a British Super League have enraged Alan Brazil, who says bringing Celtic and Rangers into the English top-flight would ‘kill’ Scottish football.
The week’s headlines have been dominated by a breakaway European Super League, which would have included the Premier League’s ‘big six’ sides, but the plans collapsed rapidly.
But it’s now been reported there are hopes to bring Scotland’s two biggest clubs into the Premier League.
The talkSPORT host admits playing against the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool every season would be great for the Old Firm sides but worries about whether it would leave domestic football in his homeland.
“From a Celtic and Rangers point of view I think it’s brilliant but for the Scottish Premiership I think it’s terrible,” said the Breakfast host.
“I think if you take Celtic and Rangers out of the Scottish Premiership then it’s going to kill our domestic football.

“I feel it’ll all just go up the swanny – all this nonsense about Aberdeen, Hibs or Hearts being in the Champions League, but for how long? Celtic and Rangers struggle.
“A lot of people have said ‘I’m sick of all the bigotry, sectarianism get rid of Celtic and Rangers and we’ll have a fair league’ but think about it. Think about the crowds. Are you going to have a packed Tynecastle or Easter Road? No, no, no, no, no.”
Inviting Celtic and Rangers straight into the Premier League was also discussed, with Bournemouth boss Jonathan Woodgate arguing that wouldn’t be fair on all the Championship sides chasing promotion.
“How can they go straight in and miss the Championship out when you’ve got all of us trying to get there? It wouldn’t be fair at all,” Woodgate told talkSPORT.
“I don’t see it happening to be honest but if it did they’d have to start in the Championship. We’re Bournemouth and would Celtic and Rangers beat us? I’m not so sure.”

Jamie O’Hara would love to see Celtic and Rangers in the Premier League though and argued that it would improve the game in Scotland too.
“If they got put in tomorrow, I think Rangers would stay up with Steven Gerrard in charge. I think Celtic would go down,” O’Hara said.
“But if you gave them a transfer window and a season to truly bed in, I think they’d then compete for the top six because they’re huge football clubs. They’d need a couple of seasons to settle in and find the players.
“We should definitely try it. I’d love to see Celtic and Rangers in the Premier League.
“I don’t think it would kill Scottish football. Celtic and Rangers win every season. If you’re talking the likes of Aberdeen actually winning the title instead of Celtic and Rangers.
“I think it would be great for football and I think it would be better for Scottish football because you’re giving all the teams a chance to win the big trophies that Rangers and Celtic win every season.”
