Caglar Soyuncu is ‘highly unlikely’ to feature in next week’s crunch clash against fellow Champions League chasers West Ham after testing positive for coronavirus, manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed.
The 24-year-old, who was also absent for Saturday evening’s defeat against Manchester City, returned a positive test while on international duty with Turkey and is just one of a number of the national team squad to catch the deadly virus.

Soyuncu featured in all of Turkey’s matches over the international break before a COVID-19 outbreak hit the squad.
“There was a number of players in Turkey that had a positive test and he was one of those,” Rodgers said. “He’s still out there in Turkey in a bubble so we’re working on the best process to get him back and available.
“He’s fine. He had a number of negative tests and just before he came back he had a positive test. It’s a process with the federation, looking at the best options, and hopefully we’ll get him back and playing as soon as we can.
“I very much doubt so (he will be available for West Ham), with the requirements of isolation and everything else. That’s what we’re working out.
“We need to confirm where we’re at but I would think he is highly unlikely to play in that game.”
Leicester are seven points ahead of the fifth-placed Hammers, but that deficit will be cut to four if David Moyes’ men get the better of Wolves on Easter Monday.
Rodgers will be hoping that Soyuncu is available in a fortnight’s time, when the Foxes play out a historic FA Cup semi-final against Southampton at Wembley.
