Callum Robinson haunts Chelsea like Sergio Aguero in worst home rout by promoted side since 1986 as Big Sam sets new record – crazy stats behind West Brom win

We’re calling it: that’s the biggest shock of the Premier League season so far.

As if 19th-place West Brom going to Stamford Bridge and beating Chelsea 5-2 wasn’t surprising enough, the stats that go along with it are just incredible.

To begin, Thomas Tuchel had not lost a single match since his Chelsea appointment in January – and the Blues had only conceded two goals in all competitions during his entire reign.

That tally was matched by Matheus Pereira in first-half stoppage time, as two goals in the space of minutes turned the game on its head following Christian Pulisic’s opener and a red card to Chelsea defender Thiago Silva.

West Brom had not scored more than three goals in a game this season, while Chelsea had not conceded more than three, but that was about to change in the second half.

Callum Robinson bagged two, a stunning volley and a superb dink, either side of a delightful move which was finished off by Mbaye Diagne.

The brace means Robinson now has four Premier League goals this season – all of which have come against Chelsea, following his double in the 3-3 draw earlier in the campaign.

It’s the most goals any player has scored against Chelsea in a single campaign since Sergio Aguero for Manchester City in 2015/16.

In similar news, Silva only has two red cards this season, the other of which came in that same game at the Hawthorns!

But the crazy stats don’t stop there. It was West Brom’s first league win at Stamford Bridge since 1978, when Ron Atkinson was manager and Cyrille Regis played up front.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have not conceded that many goals to a promoted side at home since Wimbledon beat them 4-0 at Stamford Bridge way back in 1986.

Plus, Robinson wasn’t the only man who haunted Chelsea on Saturday, as Sam Allardyce became the first manager ever to win at the Bridge with three different sides: Bolton, Palace, and now West Brom.

Premier League football, eh?
