Sir Kenny Dalglish has backed Steven Gerrard to be a success wherever he goes in management amid recent links with his former club Liverpool.
Gerrard ended Celtic’s decade-long dominance by leading the Gers to a record 55th Scottish Premiership title this season, etching himself into club folklore.
Gerrard is reportedly being eyed as the next manager to take over the reins at Anfield with long-term doubts over Jurgen Klopp’s future.
But Dalglish, who started his career at Celtic, doesn’t believes Gerrard will be in a hurry to leave Ibrox anytime soon.
Quizzed by Alan Brazil on talkSPORT Breakfast over whether Gerrard realised what a big job he is currently in, King Kenny responded: “Steven does (realise how big a club Rangers are).
“Steven knows how big it is and he keeps preaching it to the players.
“Steven will be hugely successful wherever he goes. Whatever decision he makes will be the right one. If he was to go from Ibrox there would be a few tears,” with former Gers striker and manager Ally McCoist adding the thought of him leaving breaks his heart.
Dalglish added: “Whoever takes over at Celtic is coming up against a much stronger Rangers team than what they were when Steven took over three years ago.
“That punishment by getting relegated to the third division really took its toll on them. We knew Rangers were coming.
“In the last two years they’ve also had impressive runs in Europe, so Steven’s done a fantastic job there.”
