David Alaba is set to be announced as a Real Madrid player at the end of the season following a five-way race for his signature.
The versatile Bayern Munich star, 28, will be available on a free transfer when his contract expires in June, after the German club conceded defeat in their bid to keep him.
Chelsea and Liverpool have both tried to lure the Austrian to the Premier League in recent months, while Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona were also thought to be interested.
However, Real Madrid have always been the frontrunners, and according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a deal is all-but done.
Alaba made a verbal agreement with the La Liga champions in January and the defender is now on the verge of putting pen to paper.
It is understood his contract will be worth a whopping £10.4million per season.
While used in a multitude of positions during an already-illustrious career, Alaba mostly plays as a centre-back these days and could be a replacement for Madrid veteran Sergio Ramos.
The 35-year-old also has a contract which expires at the end of the season and there is currently no sign of a new deal.
