On Tuesday night, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham withdrew from the breakaway competition.

talkSPORT also exclusively revealed the news that Ed Woodward would be leaving his role as executive vice-chairman of Manchester United at the end of the year following nine years in that role.

United fans are delirious following the latest developments after what they believe has been years of mismanagement from Woodward at Old Trafford.

One of those fans is talkSPORT’s very own Hugh Woozencroft, who delivered a passionate rant after breaking the news live on air.

“Ed Woodward has been disconnected from the fans at Manchester United for the entire time he’s been in control as executive vice chairman there,” the Kick Off host said.

“He came into the club after massive changes. David Gill leaving, Sir Alex Ferguson leaving, and he’s overseen a shambolic period in Manchester United’s history.

“Not just in terms of signing players, but as I say that real connection with the fans.

“He has been the Glazers’ man throughout. He has taken home £4million-a-year and he has done absolutely nothing in my opinion for this club other than sign shirt deals and bring in money.

“Manchester United fans have deserved better the entire time, I truly believe that.

“They’ve deserved better decisions from Ed Woodward and those who are at top of the hierarchy at the club.

“They’ve deserved better communication, and results are one thing but Manchester United have not been run like a club at the top table for the years he has been there.

“Best in class is what Manchester United need, and I’m not afraid to say that he’s not been that. I’m sorry.”
