Gianluigi Donnarumma to stay at AC Milan despite Man United and Chelsea interest with Italy international, talkSPORT told

Gianluigi Donnarumma will remain at AC Milan this summer despite his contract expiring this summer and interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

That is the view of talkSPORT’s European transfer expert Chris Parrott, who is confident the goalkeeper will sign a new deal at the San Siro due to the exciting project that is being built at the Rossonerri.

Donnarumma, who is still only 22, has made over 200 appearances for the Italian giants but has yet to agree a new deal at the San Siro.

Reports have suggested Milan had offered Donnarumma a deal worth up to £6million annually, but no agreement has been made between the two parties.

As a result of his uncertain contract situation, Premier League duo Man United and Chelsea are believed to be interested in signing him as they look to snap up one of the world’s most promising young goalkeepers for free.

However, with the famous Serie A club are on the verge of returning to the Champions League and making clear progress under Stefano Pioli, Parrott believes the Italian giants will be able to tie the player down to a new deal.

“This is a guy who’s only 22 and when he burst onto the scene we thought: ‘this is Buffon again isn’t it?'” Parrott told talkSPORT’s Trans European Express.

“He’s going to be Milan’s goalkeeper and a lot of people say that Mino Raiola’s clients do not always end up at the right club at the right time.

“For me, for all of the years he has been at Milan this is the one year where you would not want to leave.

“They are threatening to create something and will be back in the Champions League next season. This isn’t the time to join Juventus.

“They need a major rebuild and it just seems again that Raiola isn’t getting his players to the right clubs but the clubs where they get the most money.

“Ibrahimovic is one of his most high profile players and he’s never won the Champions League.”

Chelsea brought in Edouard Mendy from Rennes for £20million last summer and despite his impressive debut season in the Premier League, it is understood Blues chiefs see the Senegal stopper as back-up as they look to get Kepa Arrizabalaga off their books.

United, meanwhile, may be looking to get rid of David de Gea this summer as they view Dean Henderson as their long-term No.1, though they may have difficult in finding a club to pay his hefty wages.
