Jose Mourinho says he ‘could not care less’ about Paul Pogba criticism as Tottenham boss responds to Manchester United midfielder’s explosive comments

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho said he ‘could not care less’ about Paul Pogba’s criticism of him as the pair’s feud took a fresh twist on Friday evening.

Earlier in the day, the Manchester United midfielder said current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘wouldn’t go against the players’ in an unsubtle swipe at the Portuguese.

“What I have now with Ole is different, he wouldn’t go against the players,” Pogba told Sky Sports.

“He wouldn’t go against the players.

“Maybe Ole wouldn’t pick them, but it’s not like he puts them on the side like they don’t exist anymore. That’s the difference between Mourinho and Ole.

“Once I had a great relationship with Mourinho, everybody saw that, and the next day you don’t know what happened. That’s the strange thing I had with Mourinho and I cannot explain to you because even I don’t know. So, yeah.”

Pogba and Jose Mourinho had a notorious falling-out at Manchester United

Pogba, who re-joined United in 2016 for a then-world record £89m when Mourinho was in charge, had a well-documented falling out with the the 58-year-old when in charge at the Old Trafford club.

And after Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Everton at Goodison Park on Friday evening, Mourinho brutally said he ‘could not care less’ about Pogba’s comments.

“I would like to say that I couldn’t care less with what he says,” he told Sky Sports. “I am not interested at all.”

Pogba helped United win the League Cup and Europa League in 2017 under Mourinho but he was stripped of the vice-captaincy after a huge falling out in September 2018.

The spat reached its highest point in the same month when the player and manager were filmed arguing on the training ground shortly after the Frenchman was relieved of his leadership duties.

Pogba also had his say on Mourinho’s argument with Solskjaer following Man United’s 3-1 win at Tottenham last weekend.

The pair clashed as Solskjaer was critical of Heung-min Son for his part in a goal scored by Edinson Cavani being disallowed.

“I don’t know what happened,” Pogba said. “I’m sure Mourinho said something that would make people speak, that’s what he does.

“We got the result we wanted, Ole knows it and we enjoyed that moment because we know Mourinho and we know what he likes. We don’t need this [war of words], we just focus on us.

“We won the game, he lost the game and he doesn’t want to speak about the game, he wants to speak about the dad of someone, that’s what he does. Everybody knows him, it’s very Mourinho.”
