Karim Benzema has scored more Champions League goals than Cristiano Ronaldo since Portugal superstar left Real Madrid for Juventus

Karim Benzema doesn’t get the credit he deserves for an unbelievable goalscoring record.

The striker has been a brilliant servant to Real Madrid since joining them from Lyon in 2009.

He was outshone by Cristiano Ronaldo during the Portugal superstar’s time at the Bernabeu, but an incredible stat emerged following his brilliant goal against Chelsea on Tuesday night.

The Frenchman netted a stunning effort in the first half against the Blues in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

It moved him to 71 in Europe’s premier competition, level with the great Raul.

It also meant that only Lionel Messi, Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski have more.

Ronaldo left Madrid in 2018 and has enjoyed some success with Juventus, but has not hit the heights he enjoyed in Spain.

The Champions League is where he’s failed to replicate the same kind of form.

He netted at least ten goals in each of his last seven seasons in the Champions League with Madrid, but has failed to hit that mark once in Turin.

Ronaldo has managed just 14 goals over the last three seasons, with Benzema scoring 15 over that same period.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner might just be missing the influence of the star striker over in Italy.
