Leicester saw off Manchester United in the last round while Southampton beat Bournemouth to set up this tie.

The Foxes beat the Saints 2-0 in the Premier League earlier this season and infamously smashed them 9-0 last term.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have struggled in recent weeks and will not want their good campaign to fizzle out.

Southampton, meanwhile, are now seemingly safe in the league and can focus fully on extending their cup run.

Leicester v Southampton: Team news

Leicester trio Hamza Choudhury, James Maddison and Ayoze Perez have all returned to the first-team fold.

The three players missed the club’s defeat to West Ham last Sunday after breaching Covid-19 protocols but are set to return.

Foxes will still be without long-term absentees James Justin and Harvey Barnes but have no further issues to contend with.

Oriol Romeu remains Southampton’s only injury problem with an ankle issue.

The Saints have a fully fit squad otherwise.

Leicester v Southampton: What has been said?

This will be Leicester’s first FA Cup semi final in 39 years and Brendan Rodgers has underlined the importance of keeping calm.

The Foxes boss said: “In these moments that ability to have that self control is very important.

“When it counts most is when you are under pressure.

“We want to get into the final and we can only do that with performing well. If you overthink it or get nervous it can immobilise you.

“You stay calm, give clarity to the team and then arrive and look to play your game.

“We can’t control what Southampton bring but we can control what we do.”
