Marcelo Bielsa rubbished reports claiming he was close to signing a new contract at Leeds.
Bielsa, in his third year as Leeds’ head coach, recently reiterated his preference for discussing his future with the club at the end of the season.
But according to La Nacion in Argentina, the 65-year-old intends to extend his stay with the Whites by at least another two years.
Although there has been nothing official from the club, Bielsa was asked about it in a press conference on Thursday and was firm in his statement.
“That information is not real,” Bielsa said. “I ignore the origin. Those things, either the club can say or I can say it, we are the ones who possess the information.
“In all cases, if there was any information to give, then I would give it.”
The 65-year-old signed his current 12-month contract one week before this season began after he had steered them back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
Bielsa’s side climbed back into the top half of the table following last week’s 2-1 win at champions-elect Manchester City.
Leeds defender Stuart Dallas is hopeful the veteran boss remains at the club in the coming years, as he paid tribute to Bielsa’s brilliant man management skills during his three years in English football.
“We’re all hoping that he stays,” he told talkSPORT last week.
“What he’s done for us as individuals is incredible. The core of our squad was a mid-table Championship team three years ago and now we’re a mid-table Premier League team.
“It’s been incredible and the changes he’s made throughout the club has been phenomenal.
“Hats off to the hierarchy of the club and hopefully he’s here for another few years yet.”
