Norwich PROMOTED to Premier League: Canaries back in top-flight with five matches to spare as Brentford and Swansea drop points

Norwich City have been promoted back to the Premier League with five games to spare.

The Canaries are eight-points clear at the top of the Championship and automatic promotion was confirmed when Swansea and Brentford drew on Saturday, ensuring Daniel Farke’s men which will finish second at worst.

Norwich host Bournemouth live on talkSPORT 2 at 8pm tonight in what will now be a celebration of their immediate return to the top-flight.

The Canaries were aware a victory over the Cherries at Carrow Road would ensure an instant return after they were relegated in July.

Farke remained in charge despite their bottom place finish in the Premier League last season and has masterminded a superb campaign, with 27 wins out of their 41 league fixtures so far.

Meanwhile, Brentford wasted the chance to gain ground on second-placed Watford in the promotion race with a 0-0 stalemate against Millwall.

With the Hornets losing at local rivals Luton it was set up for the Bees to turn the screw, but they failed to muster a single shot on goal.

And it might have been even worse for the hosts if Danny McNamara’s low cross had been met by a Millwall striker at the death.

Swansea were forced to claw their way back from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw against bottom-of-the-table Wycombe to keep alive their slim hopes of challenging Watford for the second automatic promotion spot.
