Chelsea may be pulling out of the race to sign Harry Kane having reportedly ‘made contact’ with Robert Lewandowski instead.
The Blues, Manchester City and Manchester United are the clubs mainly linked with the Tottenham star, who’s given a couple of hints he’d like.
With Timo Werner struggling in front of goal this season, Kane would be the ideal player to get the goals for Chelsea. Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku have also been linked with a Stamford Bridge switch too.
However, Thomas Tuchel is understood to have turned his attentions to Lewandowski, who has 40 Bundesliga goals this term with one match left.
Sky Sports Germany, per the Daily Mail reports that Chelsea have already sounded out the Poland hitman about a summer move, with the 32-year-old considering his future at Bayern, with Tuchel ‘running out of patience’ with Werner.
The Mail adds that Lewandowski would be more keen on a move to Spain over the Premier League, while Paris Saint-Germain could look to snap him up if Kylian Mbappe leaves.
Midfielder Jorginho is Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with seven strikes. All his goals have come from the penalty spot.
Germany international Werner has just 12 goals in 50 matches for the west London side and has been guilty of missing a number of big chances.
Tuchel has publicly backed Werner, while former Chelsea star Wayne Bridge has backed the player to come good, likening his start to life at the Stamford Bridge to that of club legend Didier Drogba.
Bridge told Betting Expert: “I think luck is definitely a factor in Werner’s season. His attitude is brilliant, the way he’s worked for the team means he has played well.
“I look back at Drogba’s start at Chelsea and he didn’t hit the ground running and he got there in the end, so I think Werner will get there.
“He gives defenders nightmares, he’s still a very good player and when something clicks his confidence and attacking instinct will come back and he’ll be finding the back of the net.
“That will come and he has been a little bit unlucky with his attitude it will click in the end.
“Every player is different and lets form and talk affect them, some people won’t.
“He’s still done well he’s still caused defenders nightmares, his confidence may be knocked a little bit but it’s just going to take a few goals and it’s all going to come together for him.
“There’s always talk of Chelsea buying strikers but I think he’ll still get lots of chances to play and I think he is going to come good in the end, he’s too good for it not to happen.”
